The Internet As A Business Platform
Let me cut straight to the chase. Unless you are familiar with and know how to employ things like Domain Names, FTP, DNS Settings, IP Addresses, Hosting Accounts, Html Editors, MySQL, PHP, and a long list of services like PayPal, AlertPay, Skype, Online Conferencing and many other essentials that will become necessary at one time or another if you are going to attempt to establish a business on the Internet, then you might as well pack your bags and go back to doing whatever else you can find that will put food on the table.
Most who are curious enough about the Internet to look into some way to make money with it will quickly find that it will require much more than the ability to 'surf' from site to site. One thing that becomes apparent very quickly is that Internet terminology is almost like trying to learn a foreign language. The second thing that will jump right out at the newcomer is that it is very difficult to 'make money' learning all these terms and the applications that you need to know if you are to succeed. And that applies regardless of the type of business that you want to have. Most will soon learn that they have to either learn how to do it themselves, or they will need to find someone who already knows how to do what's required and pay them to do it for them. It's an expensive proposition either way. Then add to that the 'trust factor'. Who can you trust on the Internet? Next question. How many 'money making scams' will you fall prey to before you realize that there is no free lunch.
Creating A Unique Internet Business Is Difficult
Having a business on the Internet, be it retail, wholesale, or otherwise will require some work. You have to have a product or service that is in demand first of all, and then you have to get it set up in the 'digital world' so that it can be found on a functioning website that will help lead your potential customer to buy, and give them an acceptable way to pay you and get their product or service in a timely fashion. You could very easily have the knowledge of your product or service necessary to satisfy your customer, but if you don't have the technical ability or understanding of how to make that information available to them on the Internet you won't succeed. You'd be better off using a more traditional method of reaching and interacting with your customers.
Why Scammers Make Money On The Internet
There are tons of 'business opportunities' on the Internet and I think it would be fair to say that most of them focused on separating the unsuspecting 'newbie' from their hard earned coin. Websites that promote these so called 'opportunities' are generally long on hype and short on goods, and the bottom line is simple, just join up, pay your monthly fee for the website they will provide you and rake in the dough. Most who enter into these money making schemes are unwilling to admit that they really know very little about the Internet and how it really operates, and that's what makes the 'scammers' job so easy.
I can't tell you how many times I have listened to these types of stories and just cringe to think that there are so many out there that the unscrupulous operators take advantage of without even so much as a second thought.
What You Can Do To Avoid Scams and Save Time
Let's assume for a minute that you have never been near the ocean, don't know the first thing about SCUBA diving, and have never used any SCUBA equipment. Would you ever consider making a dive without at least some instruction on how to use the equipment and learning a little bit about the dangers you will face in the ocean? I seriously doubt it. If that's the case, then why would you be any less cautious about getting involved in a business on the Internet? Doesn't it make some sense to find someone who will provide you with at least some fundamental information before you jump into something that could end up consuming hundreds, if not thousands, of your hard earned dollars and months of your valuable time?
